Kanyakumari :- The Southern most part of India

Kanyakumari is a very beautiful coastal city located in the far south of India. The view of sunrise and sunset amidst the vast waves of the sea spread far and wide gives a wonderful feeling. Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea meet at Kanyakumari.

Places around Kanyakumari :- Kerala is situated in its north western and western part while Tirunelveli district is situated in its northern and eastern part. The capital of Kerala, Trivandrum is 85 km from here. Is at a distance of. There are frequent buses plying from Kanyakumari to Trivandrum.

By the way, the whole city is beautiful. But mainly there are some places which must be visited like, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Our Lady of Ransom Church, Thiruvalluvar Statue, Kanyakumari Temple, Tsunami Memorial, Udayagiri Fort, Olakaruvi Falls.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial :- This rock memorial was built in 1970. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial on Rock Island was built in honor of Swami Vivekananda. A large number of tourists come to see it. The statue of Swami Vivekananda is installed here.

Swami Vivekananda used to do spiritual practice sitting on this rock. One has to take the help of steamer or ferry to reach here. If you’re looking forward to seeing the monument, go for a steamer. Otherwise opt for the boat. In the slow motion of the boat, you will enjoy the relaxing breeze and beautiful views. Feeding fish while sitting in a boat or standing on the shore is also an unforgettable experience.

Thiruvalluvar Statue :- This statue is the main symbol of Kanyakumari. It is a huge standing stone statue. It is dedicated to the famous saint and Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, The height of the Thiruvalluvar statue is about 133 feet. This statue is next to Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

How To Reach Kanyakumari :-     The nearest airport to Kanyakumari is Trivandrum International Airport which is located at a distance of about 70km from Kanyakumari. Apart from this, there are many Kanyakumari Road Transport buses running from Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Trivandrum and Bangalore to Kanyakumari. You can reach here from, along with this, you can also come here from Mumbai and Bangalore by Kanyakumari Express. Kanyakumari is a major railway station and is well connected to almost all the railway stations in the country. After reaching here, you can take a taxi or rickshaw to reach Kanyakumari city.

When to go :- It is a seaside town so monsoon has a lot of influence here. Therefore, mid-June to mid-September is not suitable to visit here,the best time to visit this city is between October to February and the weather is very pleasant during this time. Due to the rainy season during June to August, one should avoid coming here.

Where to stay :- There are many guest houses, hotels and lodges in Kanyakumari. Where you can take hotels according to the convenience ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2000. You can buy jewelry made of sea shells and pearls from the nearest market here.
